Twitter4Skype. Following Your Twitter Life within Skype
Borderless Communicator’s Hudson Barton and I both follow our Twitter friends using a nifty third party Skype utility called Twitter4Skype. Basically you set up Twitter4Skype as a Skype Contact and enter your account information. Going forward, whenever you are logged onto Skype and a Tweet arrives from one of those whom you are “Following”, it will pop up in a Twitter4Skype chat window. And, of course, your messages placed into a Twitter4Skype chat window become “Tweets&...
How Do Wireline Voice Services Measure up?
If you are like me, then you’re one of the many millions who have cut the cord with their landline and gone all wireless. However, that doesn’t mean people don’t want phones for their homes. Of course for them, there are many options — some that use traditional telephony like AT&T and others like Vonage, which provide broadband-based voice service. But many entrepren...

Susan and Kevin are listed as, “FCC Review Team Lead.” I don’t know exactly what that means, but it can only be good news for those of us who care about keeping the Internet open and vital. Jim Kohlenberger shares National Science Foundation review duties with Henry Rivera. Again, good news; federal scientific efforts badly need renewed focus, and I am sure Jim will g...
The Very Human Cost of Job Cuts
The global economic downturn has started to take its toll on Silicon Valley, especially since the news of an emergency meeting Sequoia Capital held for its entrepreneurs, asking them to buckle up for the nausea inducing ride that lay ahead of them. In the weeks that have gone by, we have seen waves of job cuts - 20,000 or so by some estimates. Whether it is Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, eBay or Jobster — they are all shedding jobs. These news of the layoffs has a tinge of morbid glee. America...
